Romance scams and elder financial exploitation are growing rapidly, and financial institutions, law enforcement, and fraud professionals are on the front lines. In this session, Holly Ray examines the current scam landscape, including the social-engineering tactics fraudsters rely on and the behavioral red flags that may signal a victim is being targeted. Attendees will walk through real-world schemes and emerging threats, and leave with practical intervention strategies for strengthening prevention, detection, and victim support within their own organizations.

Holly Ray is Vice President of Financial Crimes at First Tech Federal Credit Union, where she leads enterprise programs in fraud risk management, financial crimes prevention, scam mitigation, and technology governance. She partners with executive leadership and with risk, compliance, operations, and technology teams to strengthen fraud detection, improve governance frameworks, and support sound, risk-based decisions.

A passionate consumer advocate, Holly focuses on combating elder financial exploitation and romance scams. She regularly collaborates with industry peers, law enforcement partners, and fellow fraud professionals to advance awareness, prevention, and victim support for vulnerable populations. Her work reflects a commitment to a proactive risk culture that balances innovation, member experience, and financial safety.
